The Fantastic Fest 2013 award winners were announced last night in front of a full house in Austin, Texas. Frank Pavich’s highly ambitious Jodorowky’s Dune took home the coveted audience award as well as Best Documentary with The Congress, directed by Ari Folman (In Treatment), receiving awards for Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress (for Robin Wright’s performance) in the “Fantastic Features” section.
Top dog in the horror category was best friends Derek Lee and Clif Prowse‘s Afflicted, taking home Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay whilst the Gutbuster comedy category saw Shion Sono‘s Why Don’t You Play In Hell pick up awards for both Best Picture and Best Director.
