Gird your loins! This Friday, Prime Video will debut its latest original series “My Lady Jane,” a captivating blend of action, history, fantasy, comedy, and romance that promises to completely redefine your perception of the past.
The series is adapted by Gemma Burgess (author of the Brooklyn Girls series) from Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows’ 2016 eponymous historical young adult novel that provided a reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey.
Emily Bader (Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin) stars in the titular role of Jane Grey opposite Edward Bluemel (“Killing Eve”), Jordan Peters (Pirates), Dominic Cooper (“Preacher”), Anna Chancellor (“Pennyworth”), Rob Brydon (The Trip), and Jim Broadbent (The Duke).
Beshrewing history, the series reimagines the tragic story of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who briefly reigned as Queen of England before being beheaded in 1553. Blending elements of action, fantasy, comedy, and romance, the narrative follows an alternate path where Lady Jane escapes her fate, paving the way for an epic adventure of true love and high drama.
The cast is rounded out with Henry Ashton (“Outlander”), Isabella Brownson (Napoleon), Robyn Betteridge (“Wheel of Time”), Kate O’Flynn (“Landscapers”), and Abbie Hern (Enola Holmes 2).
Ahead of all episodes of “My Lady Jane” dropping on Prime Video this Friday, June 27th, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman interviewed actors Anna Chancellor and Rob Brydon. They discussed navigating the alternative interpretations of Lady Frances Grey and Lord Dudley respectively, and how the entire cast and crew approached the production with a palpable sense of enthusiasm and playfulness, ensuring audiences will be equally entertained when the show debuts.
