Lovecraftian Chiller ‘THE DÆMON’ Set to Haunt Pigeon Shrine FrightFest With World Premiere

Co-directors Matt Devino & David Michael Yohe have today revealed that their new film, the Lovecraftian chiller, The Dæmon, will receive its World Premiere at London’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest 2024.

Written and directed by Devino & Yohe, the film centers on Tom (Tyler Q Rosen) who, haunted by his father’s suicide, abandons his wife Kathy (Sara Fletcher) , and seeks refuge at the remote lakeside cottage where his father’s life tragically ended. There, buried childhood memories resurface, all connected to a primeval, unfathomable power lurking in the lake’s depths – a force now inexorably drawing Tom towards insanity.

In an effort to save her husband, whose communication has deteriorated into an ominous silence, Kathy persuades her brother Mark (Oscar Wilson), a struggling entrepreneur, and Mark’s empathetic but inexperienced wife, Jess (Adriana Isabel), a trauma and grief counsellor, to help her. Blind to the dark forces lurking in the lake, Tom succumbs to the same evil that consumed his parents and now threatens anyone who dares draw near.

Yohe and Devino expressed their excitement about the upcoming World Premiere of their passion project: “THE DÆMON is a reflection of our own fears, an exploration of the profound connection between past and present, and the acknowledgment that in the face of cosmic forces hope may not be enough to save us.

We believe that the film will resonate with viewers on a visceral level, drawing them into a world where the line between reality and the supernatural is blurred, and where the strength of the human spirit is put to the ultimate test.”

Joel Harlow, the special effects artist behind projects such as Species, Freaked, “Evil”, Tusk, Constantine, and Inception, is responsible for the effects in this film. Meanwhile, the visual effects were created by Sean Kennedy, whose previous credits include Sin City, Chronicle, “Swamp Thing”, “Westworld”, and “The Walking Dead”.

The Dæmon debuts at Pigeon Shrine FrightFest at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, 23rd August 2024 and to build anticipation for this cosmic thriller – which we think you’ll agree looks absolutely stunning, we’ll leave you with the first trailer.
