It’s out with your quads and one-sheets and in with the future of movie publicity: motion posters.
Whilst they originally garnered popularity in the horror movie market with studios intent on creating jump scares for potential customers, pretty much every known genre is now embracing the phenomenon. Most recently Hollwood blockbusters such as Elysium and The Hunger Games have dabbled with the technique and now the UK revenge film, Vendetta, proudly launches the first motion poster for a UK independent movie.
Produced by Jonathan Sothcott (White Collar Hooligan, Devil’s Playground) and written and directed by Stephen Reynolds (Fall of the Essex Boys), Vendetta is an urban vigilante love letter to ’80s and ’90s tough guy action movies. Danny Dyer stars as Jimmy Vickers a Royl Marine, dishonourably discharged in Afghanistan, who returns to London only to discover the death of his parents at the hands of a London mob.
To celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film this Monday, 23 December, let’s take a look at the motion poster below together with Danny showing of his marksman kills before of a green screen and the actual storyboard for the poster in question.
