Another WolfCop Poster Packs 300% More Stallone

The whole world howled when, back in 2014, we were first introduced to the peaceful, rural community of Woodhaven, when alcoholic cop Lou Garou grew a few hairs on his chest and saved the locals from a gang of rebelious reptilian shapeshifters. Given the sheer amount buzz writer/director Lowell Dean’s loopy lupine horror/comedy spawned, it came as no big surprise when a sequel was green-lit. And now, two years later, Another WolfCop just made its world premiere at Austin’s Fantastic Fest and the buzz for the fuzz is back with a vengeance.

Comic Con 2014 – Mad Max: Fury Road Wows Surprised Audiences

2015 belongs to the mad…

After years of aborted shoots and production worries, it became easy to denounce Mad Max: Road Fury before any footage was even unveiled, but it turns out we didn’t need to worry. The filmmakers finally revealed a three minute trailer at Comic Con 2014 and somehow defied all expectations, making its appearance one of the most talked about events of the festival.

Returning to the franchise that made his name, director George Miller has enlisted an incredible cast to bring his vision of post-apocalyptic Australia to life, including Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult in almost unrecognizable roles.

FURY ROADThe trailer starts with Hardy crushing a two-headed lizard under his boot before driving out into the radioactive Australian outback. A chase quickly ensues between Hardy and a gang of barbaric thugs on wheels who torture and brand our hero with strange markings. Shot without a traditional script and with minimal dialogue, Miller told Comic Con that Fury Road is a “chase movie” based in a future where people have gone back to an “elemental form of behaviour” in a land with “no rule of law”.

Without spoiling too much, it’s worth mentioning that the production design looks incredible, perfectly embodying the tone of the series while still updating the general aesthetic for modern audiences. Fans should be getting seriously excited right about now…

Don’t believe me? Watch the Comic Con footage for Mad Max: Fury Road below.

Will Tom Hardy live up to Mel Gibson’s legacy? Has George Miller still got what it takes to direct an incredible Mad Max movie? And why does Hugh Keays-Byrne’s character look suspiciously like Hardy’s Bane from the Dark Knight franchise? Let us know what you thought of the Comic Con footage and posters in the comments section below.

Mad Max: Fury Road is coming to cinemas 15 May, 2015.

Evans Mimics Batman in New Dracula Untold Poster

Dracula Untold PosterThe first poster for Universal‘s upcoming period horror Dracula Untold has officially been released.

In the promo picture, Luke Evans (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) broods over a gothic landscape, brandishing a sword as his cape transforms into a group of bats. The image is certainly an effective one, but comparisons with Batman and even Van Helsing spring instantly to mind, hinting that originality may not be a key concern of Universal’s at this stage. Hmm…

Universal have tried to recapture the success of their classic horror line for some time now, but aside from The Mummy franchise, the critical reception of movies like The Wolfman has been poor to say the least. The story of Prince Vlad has been told countless times before, so it will take a special talent to elevate Dracula Untold above mediocre fare like Dracula 2000.

Enter first time director Gary Shore, who will be combining historical fact with elements of the original Bram Stoker novel to retell the origin of Dracula for modern audiences. Hmm…

Call me jaded, but if Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins couldn’t save The Wolfman from becoming a camp and poorly written travesty, then I have little hope for less experienced talent like Shore and Evans. You never know though. There’s always the chance that Dracula Untold could defy the odds and just not suck… Yeah. I went there.

Sarah Gadon and Dominic Cooper also star in Dracula Untold, which is currently heading towards a cinema near you on October 17th, assuming the release date isn’t pushed back a fourth time.

Danny Dyer’s Moving Performance in Vendetta Motion Poster

It’s out with your quads and one-sheets and in with the future of movie publicity: motion posters.

Whilst they originally garnered popularity in the horror movie market with studios intent on creating jump scares for potential customers, pretty much every known genre is now embracing the phenomenon. Most recently Hollwood blockbusters such as Elysium and The Hunger Games have dabbled with the technique and now the UK revenge film, Vendetta, proudly launches the first motion poster for a UK independent movie.

Produced by Jonathan Sothcott (White Collar Hooligan, Devil’s Playground) and written and directed by Stephen Reynolds (Fall of the Essex Boys), Vendetta is an urban vigilante love letter to ’80s and ’90s tough guy action movies. Danny Dyer stars as Jimmy Vickers a Royl Marine, dishonourably discharged in Afghanistan, who returns to London only to discover the death of his parents at the hands of a London mob.

To celebrate the DVD and Blu-ray release of the film this Monday, 23 December, let’s take a look at the motion poster below together with Danny showing of his marksman kills before of a green screen and the actual storyboard for the poster in question.
