The Gremlins seem to be back – Just don’t feed them after midnight…
Just when it seemed every film from Weird Science to The Goonies was getting a sequel or being remade, we can now tentatively add Gremlins to that list. Ain’t it Cool News reports that Warner Bros are putting the potential remake on the fast track.
We have to say that this news fills us with apprehension to say the least. Of course Gremlins has already had a sequel with Gremlins 2: The New Batch which had a more comedic tone than the first. At this early stage it is impossible to know whether the remake will lean towards the balance of humour and horror from the original, or play up the farce as in the sequel.
In fact at this stage we cannot even report that either director Joe Dante or Spielberg will be involved. These are early days yet, but the wheels are most certainly in motion.
