Oblivion Director Joseph Kosinski Joins Forces with Elysium Producers

Hot on the success of his recent sci-fi actioner outing with Tom Cruise in this year’s Oblivion, director Joseph Kosinski, is teaming up with Media Rights Capital (which produced Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium) for a yet-to-be-named “grounded action thriller.” Whilst the film has been penned by scribes Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rodgers, it was in fact Kosinski, now on board to direct, who came up with the original idea.

Whilst plot details are still under wraps both Cantwell and Rodgers are the minds behind Shadow Runner and the AMC series “Halt & Catch Fire” which is heading to our screens some time next year. Said series will focus on the changing culture of Texas’ Silicon Prairie in the early ‘80s, starring Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishe and Mackenzie Davis.

Kosinski, who cut his teeth in the world of marketing, having directed highly succesful adverts for the likes of Gears of War and Halo 3, is currently hard at work with The Twilight Zone reboot for Warner Bros. and developing a Tron sequel for Disney so it is expected he will set the ball rolling for this new project as soon as The Twilight Zone wraps. We’ll update you as soon as any more news is released.
