Apple Original Films’ Formula 1 Feature Starring Brad Pitt to Release Globally in Theaters in 2025

Apple Original Films has announced the release of a new Formula 1® feature film directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick, Spiderhead) and starring Brad Pitt (Fight Club, Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood). The film, made in collaboration with Formula 1® and the F1 community, including the 10 F1 teams and their drivers, the FIA, and race promoters, will offer an immersive and cinematic look into the world of F1 racing.

Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, a former driver who returns to Formula 1® racing, alongside Damson Idris (Farming, “Snowfall”) as his teammate Joshua Pearce at the fictional APXGP team. Directed by Kosinski and written by Academy Award-nominee Ehren Kruger (Top Gun: Maverick, Impostor, The Ring), the film was shot during real Grand Prix weekends as the team competes against the sport’s top competitors.

The stellar ensemble cast features Academy Award-nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin, “Better Call Saul”), Academy Award-winner Javier Bardem (Skyfall, No Country for Old Men), Emmy Award-winner, Golden Globe Award nominee Tobias Menzies (“Outlander”, “Manhunt”), Sarah Niles (“Ted Lasso”, The Toxic Avenger), Kim Bodnia (Nightwatch, “Killing Eve”), Samson Kayo (“Our Flag Means Death”, “Truth Seekers”), and Callie Cooke (“The Stranger”, “Wedding Season”).

Kosinski produces the film alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films; and Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment, and Lewis Hamilton under his Dawn Apollo Films banner. Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer.

The film is set to be distributed globally by Warner Bros. Pictures, with a North American release in theaters and IMAX® on June 27, 2025, followed by an international rollout starting June 25, 2025.
