First Look: A Wedding Week of Anxiety and Horror in Netflix’s “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen”

Netflix will premiere “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen,” a horror series from creator and showrunner Haley Z. Boston, on March 26.

The eight-episode series follows Rachel (Camila Morrone – “Daisy Jones & The Six”, Marmalade) and Nicky (Adam DiMarcoUndertone, “The White Lotus”) during the week leading up to their wedding, exploring the anxieties and uncertainties that come with commitment. Boston describes the show’s tone as “unsettling, getting-under-your-skin dread,” combining psychological tension, dark humor, and horror inspired by classics like Carrie and Rosemary’s Baby.

Jennifer Jason Leigh (Single White Female, Possessor), Ted Levine (The Silence of the Lambs), Gus Birney (“The Last Frontier”), Jeff Wilbusch (“The Calling”), Karla Crome (“Under the Dome), and Zlatko Burić (Wolfs) all have supporting roles in the show.

Boston, who previously wrote for “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities” and “Brand New Cherry Flavor,” serves as showrunner and executive producer. She said the series grew from her interest in the “fear of marrying the wrong person,” exploring how those anxieties play out over the course of a wedding week. The series is executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, Hilary Leavitt, and Andrea Sperling, with Weronika Tofilska directing four episodes and also executive producing. Axelle Carolyn and Lisa Brühlmann complete the directing team.

All eight episodes of “Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” will be available on Netflix starting March 26 and the first images from the series are now available below.
