Trailer for Lionsgate’s ‘BLOAT’: Ben McKenzie Stars in Screenlife Horror from Producer of ‘SEARCHING’ and ‘UNFRIENDED’

Lionsgate has unveiled the first official trailer for Pablo Acento’s upcoming horror film, Bloat. Building on the innovative onscreen/online format seen in Searching and Unfriended, this film introduces a compelling supernatural narrative. It’s worth noting that one of the producers from the aforementioned two films is also on board here.

Bloat stars Ben McKenzie (“Gotham,” “Southland,” “The O.C.”) as a military officer stationed in Turkey. His wife, played by Bojana Novakovic (Devil, The Hallow, Beyond Skyline), is vacationing in Japan with their children. Their family holiday takes a dramatic turn when their younger son nearly drowns in a lake and becomes possessed by a legendary demon. As the family struggles to save the boy’s soul, the sinister entity threatens to destroy them all.

Joining the cast are Malcolm Fuller (“The Other Two”), Sawyer Jones (Antlers, “Shrinking”), and Kane Kosugi (Ninja 2, Terra Formars).

Produced by Bazelevs, the production company of Screenlife pioneer Timur Bekmambetov, Bloat is a co-production with Russian streaming platform Okko, French production and sales house Pulsar Content (The Deep House), and Japanese production company flag Co., Ltd.

Mark your calendars for March 7, 2025, when “Bloat” will be released in theaters, On Demand, and on Digital platforms. Check out the trailer and prepare for an intriguing tale of horror and suspense.
