Roadside Attractions and Vertical have today debuted the official trailer for The Gallerist, a dark comedy starring Natalie Portman and Jenna Ortega, ahead of its theatrical debut on December 4, 2026.
Directed by Cathy Yan (Birds of Prey), who co-wrote the screenplay with James Pedersen (High Heat), the film is set against the backdrop of Art Basel Miami and follows an ambitious gallery owner (Portman) struggling to maintain her position in the art world’s elite circles following a bitter separation and mounting financial difficulties.
When an accidental death presents an unexpected opportunity, she hatches a plan to pass off the corpse as the centrepiece of her debut exhibition. However, what begins as a desperate attempt to save her career soon develops into an increasingly complicated deception, as social media influencers and the police converge on the gallery.
The ensemble cast also includes Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Brühl, Charli xcx, Zach Galifianakis, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
The Gallerist is produced by Sophie Mas, Ash Sarohia, Portman, Jonathan King, Tom McCarthy, Rae Baron and Zola Elgart Glassman. Roadside Attractions and Vertical will release the film in US theatres on December 4.
