Glasgow-Based PETTY CASSETTES Discuss Latest Release ‘PICKING PETALS’ and What the Future Holds

Glasgow-based punk rock ‘n’ rollers Petty Cassettes are back with their latest single, the feisty thundering ‘Picking Petals’; a track that taps into battling with moments of borderline despair and insanity.

Comprising David Philliskirk (vocals and guitar), Francesco Maria Pasi (bass) and Ciaran Gallagher (drums), the band’s myriad of influences found them putting out an impressive array of material ranging from frenzied rock-outs to anthemic ballads. Crowned Scottish champions at the SoundWaves Music Competition, Petty Cassettes have also played support for former The Enemy bassist Andy Hopkins’ new band AutoPilot, which brought them even more exposure, earning them rave reviews and national and international radio play on the likes of Amazing Radio (UK and USA) and BBC Introducing.

The band pitch ‘Picking Petals’ as a song that “tells the story of a steady descent into madness, where life begins to boil over before finally erupting” and it’s a track that is “guaranteed to get the blood flowing”

To celebrate Petty Cassettes’ latest release, CinemaChords caught up with Philliskirk and María Pasi to reflect on their latest single, the genesis behind the themes their last few singles have touched on, which direction their next releases will be heading – following their recent return to the studio, and when fans can expect to catch them live.
