With Sigourney Weaver Tapped Blomkamp Must be a Happy Chappie

Sci-fi movie heavyweight Sigourney Weaver has signed up to Neil Blomkamp’s upcoming movie, Chappie.

Weaver joins an already dynamic cast, with Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, Ninja and Yolandi of South African rap group, Die Antwoord, and of course, Blomkamp favourite, Sharlto Copley who will be the voice of Chappie.

Being co-produced and financed by Sony Pictures and Media Rights Capital, Chappie follows a genius robot who is kidnapped at birth by two gangsters (Ninja and Yolandi), who want to use him for their own dastardly deeds.

Production has just began in Johannesburg, South Africa adapted from the screenplay Blomkamp co-wrote with District 9 cohort, Terri Tatchell with the film due to be released on March 27th 2015.
