Apple TV+ has announced the premiere date and provided a first-look at “Bad Monkey,” the forthcoming comedy series from award-winning executive producer Bill Lawrence (“Ted Lasso,” “Shrinking”) which stars actor, producer and screenwriter Vince Vaughn, who also serves as an executive producer.
Based on Carl Hiaasen’s New York Times bestselling novel and cult classic, the series follows Andrew Yancy (Vaughn), a former Miami police officer now working as a health inspector in the Florida Keys. When he stumbles upon a case involving a human arm discovered by tourists, he sees an opportunity to get back in the police force if he can prove it’s a murder. But to do so, he must navigate a cast of eccentric Floridians and contend with one bad monkey.
The ensemble cast supporting Vaughn includes L. Scott Caldwell (The Fugitive), Rob Delaney (“Catastrophe”), Meredith Hagner (“Search Party”), Natalie Martinez (La Promesa del Retorno), Alex Moffat (“Saturday Night Live,” “Holiday”), Michelle Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Ronald Peet (First Reformed) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen and Slim), with special guest star John Ortiz (Fast and Furious) and guest stars Zach Braff (“Scrubs”) and Charlotte Lawrence in her television debut.
Developed by executive producer and showrunner Lawrence, this Warner Bros. Television series is executive produced through Lawrence’s production company Doozer Productions, along with Jeff Ingold, Matt Tarses (“Scrubs”), Marcos Siega, Vince Vaughn, and Liza Katzer.
“Bad Monkey” is the latest collaboration between Lawrence and Warner Bros. Television for Apple TV+, following the Emmy-nominated hit series “Shrinking” and the global phenomenon “Ted Lasso.” Co-created by Lawrence, “Ted Lasso” made history by becoming the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series and winning back-to-back Emmy Awards for Best Comedy Series in its first two seasons.
This all-new 10-episode series will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on August 14, 2024 followed by new episodes every Wednesday through October 9.
