Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug (13 December)
Undoubtedly the cinematic event of the year, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug needs no introduction. Part II to 2012’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the esteemed Peter Jackson is once again offering audiences a chance to be thrust into the limitless world of Middle Earth to greet a formidable enemy that has so far only been teased across a few trailers; yes, the legendary Smaug makes his first appearance on December 13th and, voiced by the ever-rising talent that is Benedict Cumberbatch, his screen debut is not an invitation to be declined. As if you needed more convincing, the film also offers the unique and rare experience of HFR 3D – not for everyone (as proven with last year’s HFR outing), but certainly a compulsory experience for any curious mind. The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug is released in the UK on Friday 13th December – forget mythical superstitions, this is a must-watch worth venturing out for.
