February is Women in Horror Recognition Month (WiHM) a fantastic cause assists female genre artists in gaining opportunities, exposure, and education through altruistic events, printed material, articles, interviews, and online support. WiHM is all about expanding opportunities for contemporary female genre filmmakers and artists by raising awareness about the changing roles for women in the film industry but no one does it better than our favourite twins.
Jen and Sylvia Soska aka ‘The Twisted Twins’ rocked us with their grindhouse thriller DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK and they seduced us into the world of body modification with AMERICAN MARY. Their latest effort VENDETTA, a WWE action flick may be a slight change in direction for the pair but we all know where their darkened hearts lie don’t we…
“Every February is Women In Horror Recognition Month and every February Jen and I host a Worldwide Massive Blood Drive” Says Sylvia Soska. “It’s easy to participate, book an appointment at your local blood bank and make a donation! You can’t think horror without thinking blood and this is a great way to help someone in need; there is no substitute for human blood and donors have been decreasing every year.”
This year in support of WiHM, the twins have teamed up with some red hot talent from across the globe including; Gigi Saul Guerrero, Hannah Neurotica, Maude Michaud, Tamae Garateguy, Jimena Monteoliva, Jessica Cameron, Patricia Chica, Jill Sixx, and Chelsey Burdon.
This year’s theme was “Blood From Unexpected Places” paired with the tagline of “If There Were Other Ways to Get Blood, We Wouldn’t Need You”. Each directress was given full creative freedom and this is the end result, 12 minutes of quality entertainment promoting one single message. We fully support WiHM and urge those who can to donate to this worthy cause so GIVE IT up and donate blood today.
