Icon Film Distribution is all set to release Emma Westenberg‘s (“Long Slow Exhale,” “Little Voice”) moving family drama Bleeding Love in UK cinemas this coming Friday, April 12.
The film stars Ewan McGregor alongside his real-life daughter Clara, who co-wrote the script with Vera Bulder and Ruby Caster. McGregor plays a father trying to reconnect with his estranged, adult daughter (Clara McGregor) after she survives a near-fatal drug overdose. He embarks on an impromptu road trip, planning to take her to rehab unbeknownst to her. En route to Santa Fe, New Mexico, they encounter a wide variety of eccentric characters and ultimately find themselves forced to confront their troubled past.
In anticipation of the film’s release, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman interviewed Westenberg about the fictional father-daughter relationship portrayed in the film, which draws from Clara’s real-life complex dynamic with her own father. They also discussed how the McGregors approached portraying a fictional family on screen, as well as Westenberg’s next directorial ambitions – either a genre film or an ensemble piece.
