Compared to much-cherished greats such as The Lost Boys and The Goonies, the festival favourite I Declare War will be released in the UK through Kaleidoscope Entertainment on the 6th of June.
I Declare War joins a group of boys as they play an innocent game of Capture the Flag in the nearby woods. Armed with nothing more than sticks and their imagination the young friends take things more serious than they usually would exposing themselves to the darker side of human nature.
Directed by Jason Lapeyre and Robert Wilson, I Declare War features rising star Gage Munroe (Immortals), Simon Yu (A Beginner’s Guide to Endings) and Mackenzie Munro (The Stone Angel). Lapeyre wrote the screenplay some ten years ago borrowing from his own experiences playing war games as a child. The script reached the hands of film producer Lewin Webb of Samaritan Entertainment who passed it on to Wilson who climbed aboard as co-director.
I Declare War took home the Best Picture award at the Action Fest in 2012 whilst also picking up the Audience Award at Fantastic Fest that same year. The film releases in cinemas around the UK from 6 June and we can’t wait to see a new adventure film which falls in the same category as The Goonies or The Lord of the Flies, starring real kids behaving and sounding like real kids.
We’ll leave you with the latest trailer.
