XYZ Films Debuts Teaser for Horror Thriller ‘NEW LIFE’ Ahead of Fantasia and FrightFest Screenings

XYZ Films has dropped the first teaser for John Rosman‘s high stakes feature directorial debut New Life, ahead of its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival this coming 8 August.

Hailed as “one of the major discoveries of Fantasia 2023” by the festival, which kicked off on Thursday 20 July, the film is written and directed by Rosman and produced by T. Justin Ross, producer of Shudder’s record-breaking hit The Mortuary Collection and the Judy Greer-starring Aporia – also set to receive its world premiere at Fantasia, and Mike Marchlewski. The film is exec. produced by David Lawson Jr, whose credits include the Independent Spirit Award-nominated Sundance sensation Something in the Dirt and the critically acclaimed sci-fi shocker The Endless.

Starring Sonya Walger (“For All Mankind,” “Lost”), Hayley Erin (“Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists”) and Tony Amendola (Annabelle, Curse of Llorona), New Life follows a mysterious woman on the run (Erin) and the resourceful government ‘fixer’ (Walger) tasked with bringing her in, as she battles her body’s own personal struggles with ALS. As their two unique stories become inextricably linked and a trail of bodies begins to pile up, the stakes of the pursuit soon rise to apocalyptic proportions.

Prior to developing and shooting the film, which wrapped production in Oregon in March of last year, Rosman was an Emmy Award-winning public media journalist whose stories appeared on national and international outlets including NPR and PBS.

Following its launch at Fantasia, New Life will also will have its European premiere at London’s Pigeon Shrine FrightFest, the UK’s premier genre film festival.
