Trailer for High-Stakes Thriller ‘BAD GENIUS’ Examines Academic Prestige and Moral Dilemmas of Today’s Youth

Vertical has debuted the official trailer for J.C. Lee‘s gripping feature directorial debut Bad Genius, an English-language remake of the same-name 2017 Thai thriller.

The original film debuted at #1 at the box office in Thailand and quickly became the highest-grossing Thai film of the year, as well as the most internationally successful Thai film ever, breaking box office records in several Asian countries, including China.

Directed by Lee, from a script she co-wrote with Julius Onah (Luce, The Girl is in Trouble), and starring Callina Liang (Presence), Benedict Wong (Avengers:Infinity War, Annihilation, “3 Body Problem”), Jabari Banks (“Bel-Air”), and Taylor Hickson (Motherland: Fort Salem”, “Deadly Class”), Bad Genius follows genius scolarship student, Lynn (Liang), who comes up with an ingenious cheating plan to help her friends ace their exams. As their underground cheating operation grows, Lynn becomes entangled in a high-stakes game that challenges her morals and pits her against the American education system.

Erik Feig, Samie Kim Falvey, Jessica Switch, Patrick Wachsberger, Ashley Stern, and Mallory Edens produced the film, with Julia Hammer, Sian McArthur, Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan, Wesley R. Edens, and Benedict Wong serving as executive producers.

Bad Genius will receive a day-and-date release on October 11th, 2024.
