Signature Entertainment has snapped up UK and Irish rights to Damien Leone’s horror sequel Terrifier 3 from The Coven before the third film in the franchise prior to filming. Terrifier 2 became a sleeper smash hit last year, grossing $10.6 million in North America and another $5 million internationally off a budget of just $250,000. Signature previously distributed the first two films in the franchise.
It has been confirmed that both David Howard Thornton and Lauren LaVera will reprise their roles as Art the Clown and Sienna respectively in what is expected to be a Christmas-themed horror film, based on a recently released teaser trailer. The third installment in the series is slated for a 25 October 2024 release in North America.
Last week, Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting revealed that Art the Clown will be wreaking havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully turn in for the night on Christmas Eve. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in January 2024.
The third instalment of the Terrifier franchise is produced by Phil Falcone (Terrifier) and directed and written once again by Damien Leone (Terrifier).
The UK and Irish rights deal was negotiated between Signature’s director of acquisitions and TV, Elizabeth Williams, and CEO and founder of The Coven, Priscilla Ross Smith.
Commenting on the deal, Signature’s Williams said, “We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with Damien and The Coven for the third entry in his runaway hit franchise. Terrifier 3 feels like Damien at the top of his filmmaking craft, and we look forward to bringing another jaw-dropping experience to the UK in 2024.”
