The Terminator is perhaps Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s most famous film role to date. Despite his age, Arnie is showing no signs of slowing down and continues to be hailed as one of the most hard working action heroes of recent times. True to form, it won’t be long before his latest action flick Sabotage is released in cinemas across the UK on 7th May.
So, during the press day for Sabotage, the entertainment blog Collider caught up with everyone’s favourite T-800 to talk about his involvement with the upcoming Terminator: Genesis.
“It’s just so wild to have a franchise that has been around for that long, and then after 30 years, to get asked again to be the only character in a movie that is the same character is unheard of, in movie history,” says Schwarzeneger when asked about the reason why he was returning to the franchise. “I was honoured when I was asked to come back and play the character with Sarah Connor.”
When asked about what fans of the franchise can come to expect from Genesis Arnold said, “Terminator is going to have the exact same feel. The way it reads, it has the same feel of Terminator 2. It’s big. There’s hardcore action and it has some really great visual effects in there, but not over the top. It’s not a Thor type of movie, even though it’s the same director. It has good special effects, but just enough to say, “Wow, where did that come from? How did they do that?”
So that’s what Arnie had to say about the film but what else do we know about the film? For certain we know that it is a reboot of the franchise and the cast are certainly no stranger to action which fills us with confidence.
Starring in the film will be actress Emilia Clarke who is most famous for her role of Daenerys Targaryen in TV’s Games of Thrones and will take on Linda Hamilton’s iconic role of Sarah Connor. She will be joined by Arnold Schwarzennegger who will once again play the Terminator and A Good Day to Die Hard’s very own Jai Courtney will take on the role of Kyle Reese. Playing the role of John Connor will be Australian actor Jason Clarke who has appeared in such films as The Great Gastsby, Zero Dark Thirty and White House Down.
Directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) we here at Cinema Chords can’t wait to see Terminator: Genesis which goes into production at the end of April in New Orleans and is scheduled for release in 2015.
