‘PSYCHO THERAPY’ Explores Writer’s Unlikely Friendship with Serial Killer – Acquired by Brainstorm Media for April Release

Brainstorm Media has secured North American distribution rights for Psycho Therapy: The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer, a dark comedy from Turkish director Tolga Karaçelik. Following a successful world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award, the film will hit theaters and VOD in April 2025.

The film marks Karaçelik’s English-language debut and features an all-star cast including Steve Buscemi (Fargo), John Magaro (Past Lives), and Britt Lower (Severance). It follows a struggling writer, navigating a divorce, who strikes up an unlikely friendship with a retired serial killer. By day, the killer serves as the writer’s marriage counselor, and by night, as the twisted inspiration for his next book.

“Brainstorm Media is thrilled to bring this weird and wonderful film to audiences,” said Michelle Shwarzstein, CEO of Brainstorm Media. “Karaçelik has crafted a thrilling film with unexpected twists and a standout cast that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats.”

Produced by Karaçelik, Buscemi, and others, Psycho Therapy blends dark humor with tension and psychological intrigue. With the film set to launch in theaters and VOD, audiences can expect a fresh, genre-bending experience.

International sales will be managed by Radiant Films International, who will present the film at EFM in Berlin.
