As per Deadline, Prime Video is developing an original action-drama series with BAFTA-nominated screenwriter and showrunner Joe Barton and director-producer Michael Bay. The project is being developed under the A+E Studios banner, in a partnership with Range Studios and Amazon Studios.
Created and scripted by Barton, with Bay attached to direct, the as-yet-untitled series revolves will focus on an American bounty hunter working South of the border who is catapulted into a fight for his life when he discovers that the man he’s tracking lands them both in trouble with the Mexican cartel.
Commenting on the genesis of the project, Bay said, “I was inspired about 5 years ago hanging out down in Costa Rica, with a former US Federal Agent, who surfs every day, living the good life … He supports his fun, relaxed lifestyle in Costa Rica by tracking down ‘Bad Gringos’ hiding out down in South America.”
Barton will serve as Exec. Producer with Bay and Brad Fuller of Platinum Dunes, Range Media Partners and Wise Entertainment.
