NOTEWORTHY #10: CinemaChords Meets lostboy

After a brief hiatus, CinemaChords’ weekly series of candid conversations with bands and solo artists tipped for the top is back.

And it’s a treat to be able to kick things back off with a bang as we welcome lostboy frontman Max Clutterbuck, hot on the heels of the recently released single “Lover”, the second track taken from their eagerly awaited 5-song EP “Love Among Angry People”.

Hailing from Sheffield, Clutterbuck, Jack Berry (lead guitar), Henry Robinson (bass) and Ethan Reeves (drums) forged a bond at high school through their mutual love of classic post-punk/new wave music. With the previous lostboy EP “Bad News” recorded as a collaboration between Clutterbuck and Courteeners bassist Joe Cross, “Love Among Angry People” marks a debut of sorts for the quartet.

And you’d be right in thinking that the title of the upcoming EP speaks to the present, as Clutterbuck acknowledges that many of the lyrics came about after lockdown when he became more aware than ever of how people treating each other and how certain things had evolved once everyone was confined behind closed doors for an indefinite period of time.

In anticipation of lostboy’s impending EP drop (May 6) and UK headline tour, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman caught up with Clutterbuck, who spilled the beans about the band’s next single, “Maple,” the diverse range fans can expect across EP’s five tracks and how dabbling with TikTok ended up proving to be a powerful promotional tool.

Keep up with lostboy on Spotify, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

Be sure to keep up with Noteworthy on Instagram and Twitter as well as CinemaChord’s “Noteworthy Nods,” a weekly showcase of our favorite releases from some of the buzziest burgeoning bands on the circuit right now.
