Shane Atkinson’s feature directorial debut, the cunningly crafted, darkly comical, neo-noir crime caper LaRoy, Texas is all set to hit theaters and digital platforms on April 12.
Directing from his own original script, Atkinson brings together an all-star cast led by John Magaro (Past Lives, First Cow), Steve Zahn (Dallas Buyers Club, “The White Lotus”), and Dylan Baker (Dream Scenario, The Good Wife/Good Fight). The film centers on down-and-out Ray (Magaro), who finds himself mistaken for a dangerous hitman after receiving an envelope of cash. Teaming up with his private investigator friend Skip (Zahn), Ray must escape the real assassin if he hopes to make it out of LaRoy alive.
In anticipation of the film’s release, CinemaChords’ Howard Gorman sat down with Atkinson and Magaro to talk about the film’s wickedly structured narrative, quirky characters and escalating catastrophes…
