Apple TV+ has unearthed a first look teaser for the gripping 10-episode post-apocalyptic sci-fi series “Silo” (formerly known as “Wool”) based on Hugh Howey’s New York Times bestselling series of novels and short stories.
The series is created by Emmy-nominated screenwriter Graham Yost (“Band of Brothers,” “Justified”), who also serves as showrunner, and Academy Award-nominee Morten Tyldum (“Defending Jacob,” The Imitation Game) has directed the first three episodes.
Starring an ensemble cast led by Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, the Mission: Impossible saga), who also serves as executive producer, this world-building drama chronicles the lives of the last ten thousand survivors on Earth, whose mile-deep home protects them from the toxic and deadly world above. But no one really knows when or why this silo was built, and anyone who tries to find out will pay the ultimate price. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer searching for answers to the murder of a loved one, who uncovers a mystery far more deep-seated than she could have ever imagined, learning that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth most certainly will.
The ensemble cast starring alongside Ferguson includes Common (“The Chi”), Emmy-nominee Harriet Walter (“Succession”), Chinaza Uche (“Dickinson”), Avi Nash (“The Walking Dead”), Critics Choice Award and NAACP winner David Oyelowo (“Selma”), Emmy-nominee Rashida Jones (“Parks and Recreation”) and Academy Award-winner Tim Robbins (Mystic River).
“Silo” is produced for Apple TV+ by AMC Studios, is executive produced by Yost, Howey, Tyldum, and Ferguson, alongside Nina Jack, Fred Golan, Rémi Aubuchon, and Ingrid Escajeda, and will premiere internationally with the first two episodes on Friday, May 5, 2023, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through June 30, 2023 on Apple TV+.
