Beshrew Thee, History! Prime Video Debuts Trailer for Historical Romantasy Series “MY LADY JANE”

Prime Video has released the official trailer for the platform’s upcoming historical, comical romantasy series “My Lady Jane.”

The series is adapted by Gemma Burgess (author of the Brookly Girls series) from the 2016 eponymous historical young adult novel that provided a reimagining of the life of Lady Jane Grey, written by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows.

Emily Bader (Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, ) stars in the titular role of Jane Grey opposite Edward Bluemel (“Killing Eve”), Jordan Peters (Pirates), Dominic Cooper (“Preacher”), Anna Chancellor (“Pennyworth”), Rob Brydon (The Trip), and Jim Broadbent (The Duke).

As per the official synopsis, we are advised to, Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553… F*ck that. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.

The cast is rounded out with Henry Ashton (“Outlander”), Isabella Brownson (Napoleon), Robyn Betteridge (“Wheel of Time”), Kate O’Flynn (“Landscapers”), and Abbie Hern (Enola Holmes 2).

Production company Parkes & MacDonald are producing the series with Gemma Burgess and Meredith Glynn (“The Boys”) as co-showrunner and executive producers, and Jamie Babbit (But I’m a Cheerleader, “Only Murders in the Building”) directing five episodes and executive producer, whilst Sarah Bradshaw (The Mummy, HBO’s upcoming “The Hedge Knight”) and Laurie MacDonald (Gladiator, Men in Black) are executive producers. Three of the eight episodes are directed by Stefan Schwartz (“The Boys,” “Luther”).

All episodes of “My Lady Jane” will premiere on Prime Video this coming June 27th. Until the, we’ll leave you with the trailer and fare thee well…
