Quiver Distribution has secured the North American distribution rights to Saint Clare, a bold vigilante chiller from award-winning filmmaker Mitzi Peirone (Braid). The film stars Bella Thorne (The DUFF, Tony Kaye’s upcoming The Trainer), alongside Rebecca De Mornay (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Frank Whaley (Pulp Fiction, The Doors), and Ryan Phillippe (Crash, The Lincoln Lawyer).
Based on “Clare at Sixteen,” the first novel in a trilogy penned by Don Roff, Saint Clare follows a reclusive young woman (Thorne) in a quiet town who is haunted by voices that compel her to kill those with dark intentions — and get away with it. But when her final act draws her into a web of corruption, trafficking, and supernatural visions, Clare is forced to confront much darker truths.
The film received its world premiere at the 2024 Taormina Film Festival before screening at genre and international showcases including FrightFest, the Oldenburg International Film Festival, and SXSW Sydney. It took home the Best Narrative Feature and Best Director awards at the L.A. Independent Women Film Awards last year.
Peirone directed Saint Clare and co-wrote the screenplay with Guinevere Turner (American Psycho, Go Fish).
The ensemble cast includes Bart Johnson (High School Musical), Joy Rovaris (“Beauty in Black”), Jan Luis Castellanos (“13 Reasons Why,” Uglies), Dylan Flashner (Bandit), and Erica Dasher (“Jane By Design”).

“We are thrilled to share Saint Clare with audiences,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman. “The film unfolds as a visually striking and intense meditation into the sense of isolation and quiet evil that haunts this world, driven by a sublime performance from Bella Thorne and an evocative, gothic soundtrack from Zola Jesus.”
The haunting score was composed by acclaimed American artist Zola Jesus, known for her distinctive blend of electronic, industrial, gothic, and classical influences. Her past scoring work includes contributions to Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive. She collaborated on three tracks with Philip Klein, a composer whose credits span Disney, Pixar, Netflix, Sony, and ABC productions. Klein also arranged the orchestral compositions for Aerosmith’s Las Vegas Residency “Deuces are Wild.”
Reflecting on the creative process behind Saint Clare, Peirone said:
“I think making Saint Clare taught me the same lessons the titular character is forced to master on her journey towards her own fate. To me, artists and people of faith are rather alike: both endeavours require relentless vision, unwavering belief, and sacrifice. So just like the martyred visionary general Joan of Arc, Clare has taught me that when you are destined with vision and clarity of purpose, then nothing can scare you – not loneliness, not violence, not being misunderstood and called insane, not rejection and ultimately not even death.”
The film is executive produced by Bella Thorne, Cassian Elwes, Tom Culliver, Jere Hausfater, Berry Meyerowitz, Jeff Sackman, Larry Greenberg, and TJ Smith; and produced by Arielle Elwes, Veronica Radaelli, David Chackler, and Joel Michaely.
The acquisition deal was negotiated by Larry Greenberg and TJ Smith on behalf of Quiver, and Jere Hausfater on behalf of the film’s producers.
Saint Clare opens July 18, 2025, in select theaters and on demand, from Quiver Distribution.
