Aldis Hodge Talks Navigating Keir O’Donnell’s Cryptic Crime Caper ‘MARMALADE’

Actor-turned writer and director Keir O’Donnell‘s edge-of-your-seat crime-tinged romance yarn Marmalade is all set to debut in theaters and On Demand this February 9th, 2024.

Directed by O’Donnell, from a script he penned himself, the film follows recently incarcerated Baron (Joe Keery – “Stranger Things”, Spree) who strikes up a friendship with cellmate Otis (Aldis HodgeBlack Adam, The Invisible Man), a man with a well-versed history of prison breaks. As the pair hatch an escape plan together, Baron recalls the story of how he met Marmalade (Camila Morrone – “Daisy Jones & The Six”, Mickey and the Bear), the love of his life, and their “Bonnie and Clyde” style scheme to rob a bank in order to care for his sick mother and give the couple the life they’ve always dreamed of.

In anticipation of the film’s release this Friday, CinemaChords caught up with Hodge who discussed navigating a film with so many red herrings and surprise twists and how he walked the complicated fine line between off-the-wall humor and darker drama in this film so as to keep audiences mystified until the very end.
