Brainstorm Media has debuted the official trailer for Affection, the highly anticipated sci-fi thriller from writer-director BT Meza, featuring lead performances from Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day, Imposters), Joseph Cross (Licorice Pizza, “Mindhunter”) and Julianna Layne (“Before”).
The film centers on Ellie (Rothe), who suffers from a rare condition that constantly resets her memory. Trapped in a recurring cycle, she must navigate a reality shared with a man claiming to be her husband. The trailer teases Ellie’s frantic race against her own mind as she struggles to piece together the truth before the next reset wipes the slate clean.
After making waves at the Screamfest Horror Film Festival and the Overlook Film Festival, Affection has maintained a stellar reputation on the international circuit. It currently boasts a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics hailing it as a must-watch:
Collider compared the film’s tension to Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! and 10 Cloverfield Lane whilst Bloody Disgusting praised the project as an “ambitious feat,” noting that Jessica Rothe is “a goddamn revelation.”
Produced by Meza, Bay Dariz, Austin Walk, and J.P. Ouellette, Affection arrives in select theaters on May 8.
