It’s very important you fully prepare yourself for what you are about to see!

Following the record-setting success of Evil Dead Rise, writer-director Lee Cronin returns with The Mummy, a dark and bold reimagining of one of horror’s most enduring stories. The first full trailer for the film has been released, offering a glimpse of Cronin’s vision for the film.

The story centers on the young daughter of a journalist who vanishes into the desert. Eight years later, she is returned to her family, but what should be a reunion turns into a tense and unnerving ordeal. The trailer suggests Cronin’s take blends the familiar Egyptian horror of The Mummy with a far more darker and unsettling narrative reminiscent of The Exorcist.

The cast includes Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón. Cronin wrote and directed the project, with James Wan, Jason Blum, and John Keville producing. Executive producers are Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Macdara Kelleher, and Cronin.

The Mummy is presented by New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster, and Blumhouse, a Wicked/Good production, and will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. The film opens in theaters and IMAX in North America on April 17, 2026, and internationally on April 15, 2026.

In other related news, Universal recently announced a new The Mummy installment starring original cast members Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz, scheduled for May 19, 2028. That film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett with a screenplay by David Coggeshall, continues the studio’s development of its legacy franchise.
