The Battle for Eternia Begins: Full Trailer for MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE Drops

The full trailer for Masters of the Universe has been released, giving audiences their first proper look at the live-action adaptation of the 1980s fantasy series. Nicholas Galitzine (Bottoms, The Idea of You) stars as Prince Adam, who must reclaim the Sword of Power and confront Skeletor, portrayed by Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club, Blade Runner 2049).

Joining him are Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and a supporting cast that includes Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, and Charlotte Riley. Kristen Wiig lends her voice to Roboto, the heroic robot ally.

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings, Bumblebee) and written by Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham, the film revisits the classic story while exploring themes of legacy, destiny, and the responsibilities that come with power.

The live-action adaptation has been in development for more than a decade. Multiple studios, directors, and actors have been attached over the years—from John Woo in 2007 to a 2022 Netflix version starring Kyle Allen, which was ultimately cancelled—before the project finally moved forward under Sony Pictures.

Masters of the Universe is set to reach U.S. cinemas on 5 June.
