Dark Sky Films will release Dooba Dooba on January 23, in cinemas and on digital. Written and directed by Ehrland Hollingsworth, the film has already made quite a mark on the festival circuit, picking up awards at Nightmares Film Festival and Midwest WeirdFest.
Told entirely through in-home security camera footage, Dooba Dooba follows a young woman who takes what seems like a straightforward babysitting job – only to find herself pulled into a situation that grows more unsettling by the minute. The cast includes Amna Vegha (Haven, How to Successfully Fail in Hollywood), Betsy Sligh (Found, Homestead), Winston Haynes (The Advocate, Judas and the Black Messiah), Erin O’Meara, and Billy Hulsey.
Ahead of its release, CinemaChords spoke with Hollingsworth and Vegha about the challenges of working within a single-camera perspective, the aesthetic potential of analog footage, and how performance is shaped when the camera is intended to remain unseen.
