Trailer Debut: Jan Komasa’s Twisted Thriller HEEL Pits Freedom Against Control

Magnolia Pictures has released the first official trailer for Heel previously known on the festival circuit as Good Boy. The film comes from Academy Award®-nominated director Jan Komasa (Anniversary, The Hater) and stars Anson Boon, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, and Kit Rakusen.

The film follows a rebellious young man (Boon) who is confined in the basement of a seemingly respectable married couple (Graham and Riseborough) as they attempt to instill their own vision of family values. As he adapts to his new circumstances, the question arises: is he truly learning their lessons, or subtly turning the tables on his captors?

On the film, Komasa said: “In a world starved for attention, is freedom still desirable if nobody sees you? Would we choose self-rule in isolation or surrender liberty for the comfort of constant care?” He added: “The story connects with the themes I’ve pursued since Suicide Room and Corpus Christi: family and community as systems that both protect and imprison us.”

The film was shot in Warsaw and Yorkshire, combining Central European and British influences in its design and atmosphere.

Heel is slated to release in theaters and on-demand on March 6, 2026.
