INTERVIEW: Cast and Crew Discuss Time-Twisting Conundrum Thriller ‘THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT’

Magnolia Pictures and Magnet Releasing are all set to release Michael Felker‘s feature directorial debut, the metaphysical sci-fi thriller Things Will be Different, executive produced by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.

The film, written and directed by Felker, carries the same level of conceptual sophistication and emotional resonance that has become a hallmark of Benson and Moorhead’s collaborative efforts so you are guaranteed for quite the ride when the film releases later this week. Things Will be Different follows estranged siblings Joseph (Adam David Thompson– A Walk Among the TombstonesGlass) and Sidney (Riley Dandy – Christmas Bloody ChristmasThat’s Amor), who, after a botched robbery, rendezvous at a local diner before hastily escaping to an abandoned farmhouse, which serves as a portal to a different time period, allowing them to evade the police. However, when they attempt to return to the present, an unknown metaphysical force thwarts their efforts, leaving the pair stranded on the land unless they carry out specific instructions. The subsequent events challenge not only the laws of physics but also the foundations of Joe and Sid’s relationship.

Co-starring alongside Thompson and Dandy are Chloe Skoczen (Earlybird), Justin Benson (Something in the DirtThe Endless), Sarah Bolger (Emelie, “Mayans M.C.”), and Jori Lynn Felker.

To celebrate the film’s release in theaters and digital on October 4th, 2024, CinemaChords’ Ashley Northey and Howard Gorman interviewed Felker, Dandy, and Thompson. They discussed the process of creating the film’s intricate yet satisfying plot, what they hope viewers will take away from the movie, and why they believe it’s a thought-provoking film that rewards repeat viewings, and hopefully one that might even compel them to even get matching tattoos with their fellow Michael Felker fans after seeing the film for the umpteenth time.
