Chase. Ride. Survive: ‘TWISTERS’ Trailer Drops, Bringing a Modern Twist to the Classic Blockbuster

The storm has been brewing for all of 28 years but this summer, one of the most beloved epic sudio distaster movies is set to return with an adrenaline-pumping, seat-clenching, big-screen thrill ride that brings you face to face with one of nature’s most awe-inspiring – and devastating – forces.

From the producers of the tentpole franchises Jurassic Park, Bourne, and Indiana Jones comes Twisters, a modern-day twist on the 1996 hit movie Twister. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Oscar-nominated writer-director of Minari), from a screenplay penned by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Overlord), the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads Sing, Normal People) and Glen Powell (Anyone But You, Top Gun: Maverick) as two opposing figures who join forces in an attempt to understand and possibly control the immense power of tornadoes.

Edgar-Jones takes on the role of Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser whose life was forever changed by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years. Now based in New York City, she studies storm patterns from the safety of her screens. However, she is drawn back to the open plains by her friend Javi (played by Golden Globe nominee Anthony Ramos from In the Heights) to test out an innovative new tracking system. There she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), a charismatic and reckless social media sensation who thrives on sharing his thrilling storm-chasing adventures with his followers.

As the storm season intensifies, unprecedented and terrifying phenomena are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves in the fight of their lives as multiple storm systems converge over central Oklahoma.

Twisters features an exciting new cast, including Nope’s Brandon Perea, Sasha Lane (American Honey), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders), Kiernan Shipka (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Nik Dodani (Atypical) and Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney (Beautiful Boy).

From Amblin Entertainment, Twisters is directed by Lee Isaac Chung and is produced by Oscar® nominee Frank Marshall (Jurassic and Indiana Jones franchises) and by Patrick Crowley (Jurassic and Bourne franchises). The screenplay is by Mark L. Smith, writer of the Best Picture nominee The RevenantTwisters will be distributed by Universal Pictures domestically and by Warner Bros. Pictures internationally.

Brace yourself for an unforgettable cinematic experience that will leave you in awe of the raw power and beauty of nature’s fury when Twisters launches in theaters in theaters this July 19. If you feel it, chase it…
