First Trailer for ‘Moonage Daydream’ Illuminates the Life and Genius of David Bowie

Universal Pictures has debuted the first official trailer for Moonage Daydream, Brett Morgen’s (The Kid Stays in the Picture, Cobain: Montage of Heck, Jane) genre-defying feature-length immersion into the art and sounds of David Bowie.

Moonage Daydream is the first film to be supported by the David Bowie Estate, which granted Morgen unprecedented access to their collection which encompasses a lifetime of materials, including an extensive catalog of unseen footage and personal collection of Bowie’s own art and poetry.

Morgen then spent four years assembling the film and another 18 months designing the soundscape, animations, and color palette and teamed up with Bowie’s long-time collaborator, friend, and music producer Tony Visconti and Academy Award®-winning sound mixer Paul Massey (Bohemian Rhapsody) to remix and translate Bowie’s original stems for a theatrical environment that will be presented in 12.0, 5.0, Atmos, and 7.1/5.1.

The result of almost six years of hard work navigates Bowie’s creative, musical, and spiritual journey chronicled through kaleidoscopic imagery, personal archived footage, unseen performances, and anchored by David Bowie’s own music and words which invites audiences to immerse themselves in the unique world that is “Bowie” and celebrate his legacy and enduring influence like never before.

Moonage Daydream will release exclusively in IMAX this September 16, 2022, and wide in UK Cinemas from September 23, 2022.
