Australian writing/directing duo Colin and Cameron Cairnes (100 Bloody Acres, Scare Campaign) have just started shooting their latest horror pic, Late Night With the Devil which will star David Dastmalchian (The Suicide Squad, Dune).
Co-produced by Academy-Award-winning Image Nation Abu Dhabi and low-budget genre label Spooky Pictures, Late Night With the Devil will see Dastmalchian star as the host of a late-night talk show which goes horribly wrong during a live broadcast in 1977, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms.
The film will be produced by Spooky Pictures founders Roy Lee (It) and Steven Schneider (Pet Sematary), Derek Dauchy (Al Kameen), John Molloy (Barons) and Future Pictures’ Mat Govoni (Lone Wolf) and Adam White (Lone Wolf). Filmmakers Joel Anderson (Lake Mungo), and Rami Yasin (Bloodline) will serve as Executive Producers alongside David Dastmalchian.
Dastmalchian can next be seen starring in Amblin’s horror thriller feature film Last Voyage of the Demeter and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. Dastmalchian is also attached to 20th Century’s Stephen King adaptation of Boogeyman and has wrapped production on Boston Strangler for the studio.
Late Night With the Devil follows Image Nation and Spooky Pictures’ debut co-production Chloe Okuno’s psychological thriller Watcher which starred Maika Monroe, Burn Gorman and Karl Glusman and recorded the biggest opening weekend grosses ever for distributor IFC Films and its IFC Midnight/Shudder label. Watcher is now available on VOD.
Cinetic is handling the US/North American rights to Late Night With the Devil, while AGC International, the international sales and distribution arm of Stuart Ford’s fast-growing independent content studio AGC Studios, handles the rights for the rest of the world.
