With Charlotte Colbert’s BIFA-nominated psychological shocker She Will set for a theatrical release in the UK this 22nd July, 2022, Mercury KX has today confirmed the release details of the film’s official soundtrack.
The creative genius behind the brooding and evocative soundtrack is Golden Globe-winning and two-time Ivor Novello-nominated musician and composer Clint Mansell. Mansell’s extensive composing credits include “Peacemaker,” Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Stoker, The Waterfall and Filth, to name just a few touchstones from his remarkable career as a composer spanning 25 years. He has collaborated with directors Darren Aronofsky, Duncan Jones, Ben Wheatley and Park Chan-Wook, and with a diverse roster of musicians including the Kronos Quartet and Mogwai. She Will marks Clint Mansell’s first venture scoring a Dolby Atmos soundtrack.
Commenting on getting the opportunity to collaborate with Mansell, Colbert said, “Clint is a magician and Incantation feels like a spell. Like it’s revealing a bit of a cosmic soup, the waltz of our unconscious goo.”
Colbert’s striking debut exudes timeliness with an evocative feminist critique, relating a gothic fairy tale that focuses on Veronica Ghent (Alice Krige – Sleepwalkers, Gretel & Hansel) who, after undergoing a double mastectomy, goes to a healing retreat in rural Scotland with her young nurse Desi (Kota Eberhardt – X-Men: Dark Phoenix). Here she starts to realize that the process of this surgery stirs up anxieties and questions about her own existence, prompting her to start questioning and confronting past traumas. The two form an unlikely bond as mysterious forces give Veronica the power to fulfill her revenge in her dreams. Mansell’s score guides the listener through the turbulence of the film with intense undulating bass, haunting electronics and eerie vocals building to epic crescendos.
The She Will official soundtrack releases digitally on Decca Records on 15th July, to tie in with the film’s release, followed by black and pink vinyl on 5th August, 2022.
