VIDEO INTERVIEW: Willa Fitzgerald on Amazon’s “Reacher”

Debuting this Friday, February 4 on Prime Video, Amazon Original’s new action-drama series, “Reacher,” dispenses with any memory of the previous two Tom Cruise-starring productions in favour of an adaptation that rings far truer to Lee Child’s source material.

Tailored into an eight-part series by Emmy-nominated writer Nick Santora (“Prison Break,” “Breakout Kings”), and starring Alan Ritchson (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, “Titans,” “Blood Drive”) as the roaming veteran military police investigator, alongside Malcolm Goodwin (“iZombie,” “Breakout Kings”), Willa Fitzgerald (“The Fall of the House of the Usher,” “Scream”), Chris Webster (“Most Dangerous Game”), Maria Sten (“Swamp Thing”), Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”), Kristin Kreuk (“Smallville”), Willie C. Carpenter (“Devious Maids”), and Bruce McGill (Cliffhanger, The Last Boy Scout), the first season is based on Lee Child’s first Jack Reacher novel “Killing Floor.”

Fresh out of the military, Reacher drifts into the small town of Margrave, Georgia, where he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. Local cops arrest him on sight and eyewitnesses claim to place him at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with.

Ahead of the show’s exclusive premiere on Prime Video this Friday, CinemaChords caught up with Fitzgerald, who discussed her character’s reaction to Reacher when he drifts into Margrave, and how she approached standing just as tall – if not taller – than her hulking co-star, Alan Ritchson.
