Welcome to the Wild: Jason Clarke Hunts Escaped Convicts and Buried Secrets in “The Last Frontier”

Think Alaska is just snow, silence, and solitude? Not anymore. Apple TV+ has dropped a first look at its icy new thriller “The Last Frontier,” a tense, blood-on-the-snow survival series that looks set to blend the rugged wilderness suspense of Cliffhanger with the tense prisoner-escape drama of Con Air.

Starring and executive produced by Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), the ten-episode series comes from Jon Bokenkamp (“The Blacklist”) and Richard D’Ovidio (“The Call”). The series chronicles a spiralling crisis in the frozen wilds of Alaska, where a prison transport plane crashes into the vast, snow-covered silence — unleashing a pack of violent inmates into the woods.

Clarke plays Frank Remnick — a grizzled U.S. marshal clinging to order in a region where rules don’t mean much and backup’s never on the way. But when the crash starts to smell like sabotage, and the bodies start piling up, Remnick realises he’s not just dealing with escaped prisoners… he’s caught in the middle of a long-buried conspiracy with chilling consequences.

The ensemble cast includes Dominic Cooper (“The Gold”), Haley Bennett (The Magnificent Seven), Simone Kessell (“Yellowjackets”), Dallas Goldtooth (“Reservation Dogs”), Tait Blum (“For All Mankind”), and Academy Award nominee Alfre Woodard (Clemency).

Sam Hargrave (Extraction), directs the series. Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio serve as executive producers and lead the writing team, which also includes Laura Benson (“The Big C”), Glenn Kessler (“Bloodline”), and Albert Kim (“Nikita”).

The Last Frontier lands on Apple TV+ with its first two episodes on October 10, 2025, followed by weekly drops every Friday through December 5.
