Netflix has released the official trailer for War Machine, the upcoming sci-fi actioner directed by Patrick Hughes (Red Hill, The Hitman’s Bodyguard), which premieres March 6 on the streaming platform.

The film stars Alan Ritchson (“Reacher”) as 81, the lead Ranger candidate in an elite unit undergoing the final phase of U.S. Army Ranger selection. Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Blake Richardson, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber portray fellow aspirants who find themselves in over their heads as events spiral beyond the scope of a standard military exercise. Dennis Quaid and Esai Morales play commanding officers overseeing the operation.

Written by Hughes and James Beaufort, the script unfolds during the final 24 hours of what is described as the world’s toughest selection process. According to the official logline: “During the final stage of U.S. Army Ranger selection, an elite team’s training exercise turns into a fight for survival against an unimaginable threat.” What begins as a high-stakes training mission quickly escalates into a confrontation with forces beyond their expectations.

Principal photography began September 16, 2024, in Victoria, Australia, with Gelareh Kiazand serving as cinematographer. Filming wrapped on December 14, 2024.

War Machine is produced by Todd Lieberman and Alexander Young of Hidden Pictures, alongside Hughes and Greg McLean of HUGE FILM. Rich Cook of Range serves as producer, with Valerie Bleth Sharp executive producing.

War Machine debuts March 6 on Netflix.
