Epic Pictures’ DREAD banner has just debuted the official trailer and artwork for Jill Gevargizian‘s (The Stylist) sophomore feature, Ghost Game which brings a debate-raising social commentary spin on familiar haunted house tropes.
Directed by Gevargizian, from a script penned by Adam Cesare (Clown in a Cornfield, Last Night at Terrace Lanes), with Eduardo Sánchez (The Blair Witch Project) and Mary Beth McAndrews (Bystanders) exec. producing, Ghost Game chronicles how, after discovering his girlfriend Laura’s involvement in a “cosplay home invasion” internet challenge to secretly live alongside unsuspecting residents, Vin persuades her to let him tag along as she sets her sights on her next target – the infamously haunted Halton House, recently purchased by a new family.
As is to be expected, upon entering, the thrill-seeking couple soon get a taste of their own bad medicine as they find themselves face-to-face with the true horrors that lurk within.
Confronted by a series of chilling, unexplained phenomena that defy all logic, it becomes clear they are not the only ones haunting the estate and, as the new owner descends into a maddening spiral of obsession, what began as a game turns deadly, testing the limits of Laura and Vin’s courage and resolve as they struggle to escape with their lives.
The film stars Kia Dorsey (Secrets in the Building), Zaen Haidar (Butch, Please), Sam Lukowski (Last Night at Terrace Lanes), Emily Bennett (Shelby Oaks, Alone With You) and Michael C. Williams (The Blair Witch Project, Altered).
Commenting on the movie, Gevargizian said, “It was a dream to tackle two iconic horror sub-genres at once: a home invasion thriller mixed with a classic haunted house film … GHOST GAME is the kind of film that keeps you on your toes, peeling back layer after layer until the very last frame.”
Ghost Game will premiere in select theaters on October 18, followed by an October 22 VOD release. The film will subsequently be available on Blu-ray on December 10.
