We have the perfect cure for vampire fatigue today as Lionsgate has released the official trailer for Euros Lyn‘s (Dream Horse, “Heartstopper”) The Radleys, a fun and fresh comedic take on vampire lore adapted from Matt Haig‘s acclaimed, Alex Award-winning 2010 novel of the same name.
Directed by Lyn, from an adaptation of the book completed by renowned British comedian Jo Brand (The More You Ignore Me, “Getting On”) and a screenplay by Talitha Stevenson, the film chronicles the lives of the Radley family, who, at first glance, come across as the epitome of urban normalcy: averagely content, averagely dysfunctional. But there’s more to this family than meets the eye: they are, in fact, a clan of vampires. Afflicted with an insatiable bloodlust that they desperately struggle to keep in check, when the sun sets, the Radleys’ true monstrous nature manifests: their humanity gives way to feral, primal impulses as they succumb to their predatory vampire instincts, turning their peaceful rural existence on its head.
The star-studded ensemle cast features Kelly Macdonald (No Country For Old Men, Holmes & Watson), Damian Lewis (“Billions,” Dreamcatcher, and reuniting with Lyn after working together on Dream Horse), Harry Baxendale (“Shadow and Bone”), Bo Bragason (Censor, “Creeped Out”), Jay Lycurgo (The Batman, “Titans”), Siân Phillips (Dune (1984), Goodbye, Mr. Chips, Clash of the Titans (1981)), Shaun Parkes (“Lost in Space”), Sophia DiMartino (“Loki”, Yesterday) , and Steven Waddington (Uncharted, “Slow Horses”).
The film received its world premiere at the Edinburgh International Film Festival last month with Cut to the Take calling it a, “Fun thriller with great acting and engaging topics,” and Digital Spy it offers, “A fresh and funny British spin on the vampire genre.”
Debbie Gray is producing and Damien Lewis is exec producing under his Ginger Biscuit Entertainment production banner.
The Radleys releases in theaters, On Digital and On Demand on October 4, 2024, and to leave you thirsty for more, we’ll leave you with the official trailer which teases how this family, despite their very best efforts, are anything but normal.
