The Coral Officially Release New Album ‘388’ Following Surprise Physical-Only Launch

The Coral 388 Album

The Coral have officially released their thirteenth studio album, 388, across digital platforms and high street retailers today. The wide release follows a two-week period of “under the cover” distribution, during which the record was available exclusively as a physical format stocked in select independent record shops.

To mark the album’s arrival on digital shop windows, the Wirral-based group has shared a video for the new single, “Let The Music Play.”

“The recording is an ode to the sound of cassette tapes by The Wailers and Lee Scratch Perry that we used to buy in second hand shops, Poundland and car boot sales,” Songwriter and vocalist James Skelly says. “The song itself is us trying to make sense of the world but arriving at the fact that only music will ever make sense.”

The release of 388 follows the commercial success of 2023’s Sea Of Mirrors, which reached the Top Five of the UK Official Albums Chart. Since their 2002 Mercury Prize-nominated debut, the band has secured six Top Five albums, including Magic and Medicine (2003) and The Invisible Invasion (2005). In 2025, their signature single “Dreaming of You” was certified platinum.

The Coral will also be supporting the new record with an extensive run of festival appearances and support slots beginning next month. Tickets and various formats of 388 are available through the band’s official website.
