SXSW 2026: Barbara Crampton Talks GRIND’s Terrifyingly True-to-Life Gig Economy Satire

Barbara Crampton Grind SXSW Yellow Veil Pictures

Just ahead of its SXSW World Premiere, Grind, the terrifyingly true-to-life horror-satire anthology, secured North American distribution through Yellow Veil Pictures.

Directed by Brea Grant  (12 Hour Shift, Torn Hearts), Chelsea Stardust (Satanic Panic), and  Ed Dougherty, Grind explores the absurdities and pressures of modern work life – from the manic optimism of MLM schemes and the repetitive grind of gig jobs to the mental toll of moderating online spaces and the behind-the-scenes chaos of corporate service work.

The film features Barbara Crampton alongside an ensemble cast that includes Rob Huebel, Vinny Thomas, Jessika Van, Christopher Rodriguez-Marquette, James Urbaniak, Courtney Pauroso, James Paxton, Ify Nwadiwe, and Aubrey Shea.

To celebrate Grind’s SXSW premiere and distribution deal, CinemaChords spoke with Barbara Crampton about performing in a multi-director anthology that plays out like a single, terrifyingly entertaining shift, with its stories shifting seamlessly from one to the next.
