Sci-Fi Festival Favorite ‘THE TUNNEL TO SUMMER, THE EXIT OF GOODBYES’ Scores UK and Ireland Release

Anime Limited have today announced that, following an in-competition screening at this year’s Annecy International Film Festival, they will be releasing Tomohisa Taguchi‘s (BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War) sci-fi romance The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes exclusively in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 14th July 2023 – with tickets going on sale from 7th June.

Directed by Taguchi at Studio CLAP (Pompo the Cinephile), and inspired by the eponymous novel of the same name, this whirlwind time-travelling tale of summer love centres on Kaoru and Anzu, two misfit teenagers who come together to investigate a mysterious tunnel that is said to grant the wishes of whoever ventures through it – at a precious cost. Together, they must realise what it is they truly wish for, and whether it’s worth the price.

The film has been a proven hit on the festival circuit, wowing audiences at Scotland Loves Anime 2022, Ireland’s Japan Film Festival, and the Tokyo International Film Festival.

The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes will release in cinemas across the UK and Ireland from 14th July, 2023, and in the meanwhile we’ll leave you to enjoy the official trailer below.

The film will be shown in Japanese with English subtitles. For more information and to book tickets, you can visit the official website here.
