Get ready to be hooked all over again! The iconic horror franchise I Know What You Did Last Summer is making a chilling return with a fresh twist, and today’s unveiling of the new poster is sure to send fans into a frenzy, teasing a terrifying return to the legendary franchise, centered on guilt, fear, and revenge.
Directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge), I Know What You Did Last Summer follows a group of five friends whose lives are turned upside down after a deadly car accident. Instead of facing the consequences, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep their secret safe. But as the anniversary of the accident approaches, the past comes back to haunt them in terrifying ways. A mysterious figure seems to know exactly what they did last summer—and they’ll stop at nothing to make them pay.
Starring Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, and Sarah Pidgeon, this new chapter in the I Know What You Did Last Summer saga brings together fresh talent and a few familiar faces from the original Southport Massacre, including Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt. Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, Austin Nichols, Lola Tung, and Nicholas Alexander Chavez round out the cast.
Taking place in the haunting backdrop of Southport, the story delves into the mythology of the infamous massacre of 1997. As one by one, the friends are stalked by the unknown killer, they seek the help of two survivors from the original tragedy, who might be the key to their survival. But as they uncover more dark secrets, they’ll realize that this deadly cycle might be even harder to break than they imagined.
With a script penned by Leah McKendrick, Sam Lansky, and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the film is produced by Neal H. Moritz and executive produced by Robinson, Jackie Shenoo, and Karina Rahardja.
The poster is as cryptic as they come, but there’s no denying the excitement that comes with the return of that signature hook. This summer, long kept secrets will surface when I Know What You Did Last Summer releases in theaters July 18, 2025.
