Pearl Jam unveiled another harbinger of their highly anticipated twelfth studio album, Dark Matter, last week with the release of the hard-charging lead single “Running” (listen here). Tied to the single drop, the band also announced an exclusive one-night-only cinematic event, Pearl Jam – Dark Matter – Global Theatrical Experience which will take place on April 16, 2024. That news alone should have you running to theaters, but to get the hype train rolling even faster, an official teaser trailer has just dropped.
Distributed by Abramorama, the film will screen in over 225 theaters across the U.S., including AMC, Regal, Cinemark, Landmark, Marcus, Studio Movie Grill, Cinepolis, Harkins, Alamo Drafthouse, Chinese Cineplex, IFC, and more. It will also show in over 30 other countries, with over 300 international locations confirmed across Mexico, the UK, Spain, Netherlands, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, New Zealand, and Poland so far. AMC and other theaters will feature Dolby Atmos audio. Tickets are on sale now via this link.
The multi-GRAMMY® award-winning producer Andrew Watt helmed Pearl Jam’s latest studio record, their first since the critically acclaimed Gigaton (2020). In 2023, the band—comprised of Eddie Vedder [vocals], Jeff Ament [bass], Stone Gossard [rhythm guitar], Mike McCready [lead guitar], and Matt Cameron [drums]—retreated to Shangri-La Studios in Malibu. There, they plugged in and played live for Watt’s production.
To celebrate independent record stores, Pearl Jam will release a special edition of Dark Matter on April 20, exclusively at participating locations for Record Store Day. Fans can find more information and local stores at www.recordstoreday.com.
In support of their new album Dark Matter, Pearl Jam will embark on a world tour this year. For the first time, the band has announced a new album and tour simultaneously, unveiling all worldwide tour dates at once. The extensive global tour will hit nine countries and 25 cities, kicking off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The North American leg will include shows at iconic venues like Wrigley Field, Madison Square Garden, Fenway Park, and Climate Pledge Arena in their Seattle hometown – their first performance there in six years.
The tour continues through the UK and Europe with a stop at London’s new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, followed by Pearl Jam’s long-awaited return to New Zealand and Australia this November, ten years after their last shows there.
Special guests Deep Sea Diver (North America Leg 1), Glen Hansard (North America Leg 2), The Murder Capital (UK/EU), Richard Ashcroft (Dublin and London) and Pixies (Australia and New Zealand) will serve as support for these dates.
Dark Matter will be available on April 19, 2024 and is available to pre-order now here.
